35 persons attended this event.  The evaluation report is here.  PDfs of presentations will be available for attendees shortly.  Some of the comments on the evaluation forms were:

"The meeting was so interesting and gave me a chance to know more people."

"Too much Chemistry!"

"A bit Biochemistry heavy for me!"

"More Histology based talks (needed) especially from UKAS.  I realise people have their own areas of interest but topics could be more general."

"Some useful thoughts but can be difficult to relate to non-numeric discipline ie histology without a clinical chemistry background."

In our defence, we did try to get speakers fom EQA services in Histology and Microbiology, but none were available or willing to contribute to the programme.

"Information Management" Symposium, Tuesday, 10th November 2015.

50 persons attended this event.  The evaluation report is here.  Attendees who would like pdfs of the presentations should request the Dropbox folder link using the Contact form.

A horizontally striped scarf was left behind at this meeting.  If you think it is yours, please send us an email with its description and we will post it on!

Some comments received:

There were no negative comments about the presentations but a few people had concerns about not being able to see the screen at the back and the lack of female toilets.  We can address the former but not the latter, regrettably!  There were a number of positive comments about the talks:

"The speakers were very knowledgeable!"

"It was great of the expert patient to do this - very thought-provoking!"

"Wow! I need to learn more!"

"Generally interesting - lots of things I've never heard of - very useful"

"Very good to have patient experience as part of the programme."

"I really enjoyed the day - learned a lot and got a lot out of it.  Made very welcome - well worth the trip from Glasgow!  Audit exercise was very useful for thinking about producing checklists and I will definitely be reviewing my checklists in light of this.  Thank you for a very enjoyable, useful day!"

"Enjoyed the day & the afternoon exercises."

The main suggestion for improvement was that there should be more copies of the group audit exercises papers.

There was one adverse comment on the relevance of the Andrology talk and othere relating to the adequacy of the venue and having and earlier finish time rather than the educational content.

"Managing the Quality of Suppliers Symposium". 19th November 2013

The evaluation report chart (45 respondents) is available here.  Most people were very happy, the few criticisms coming from people from the non-numeric disciplines who found the afternoon talks too chemistry-orientated.  They can be reassured that we will address these criticisms in the main Seminar on Traceability & Uncertainty on the 11th March next year.

A grey scarf with butterflies and cherubs on it was left behind behind in the conference room.  If it is yours, please get in touch!

Audit Workshop, 16th September 2013

A chart of the evaluation responses (32/34 attendees) is here. I think we achieved some quality improvement!  Whereas most of the responses were positive, several attendees felt having handouts of the talks would be useful.  Our view is that it is better for people to listen and interact with the speakers, and, of course, synchronised page-turning is a distraction!

Copies of the presentations will be made available to all attendees in dues course.

Audit Workshop, 2nd July 2013

Please go here for a chart of the evaluation responses (37/44 returned).  The rather low score for Alan's talk on writing reports resulted from participants requiring more specific practical guidance.  This will be addressed for the repeat of this Workshop on 16th September 2013.  Registration for this is now open on the Forthcoming Events page.

Diagnostic Conundrums Symposium, 19th March 2013

Please go here for the delegate evaluation scores (15/22 forms returned).  Clearly, everyone was happy!

Presentations will be made available shortly.

Some interesting suggestions were made at the Members' Forum for future events which are being followed up.  These will be announced on the Forthcoming events page in due course.

Management Review Workshop 25th April 2012

Please go here for a chart of the evaluation scores from attendees (30/32 forms returned).

Pretty nearly everyone was very happy with all aspects of the Workshop.  A few people suggested that we might have moved people around the tables to widen the opportunities for discussion, so we will take this on board for next Workshop.

The two presentations are now available on request by those who attended the Workshop.  Please use the Contact form.

Fully paid up AQMLM members who did not attend the Workshop may purchase the presentations for £10 here. (You must be signed in to your account.)

Non-members who did not attend the Workshop may purchase the presentations for £20 here. (You must have a website account and be signed in.)

7th November 2011 Symposium - "Quality & Patient Safety"

A summary chart of delegate feedback may be found here.

A significant minority of delegates questioned the relevance of the session on the assessment of clinical competency and wanted more practical information on how to assess competency in the workplace.  We accept this criticism but would point out that revalidation of medical colleagues is heading rapidly for non-medical scientists, that this was a Symposium rather than a Workshop, and the talks were primarily intended to present the concepts and mechanisms that are in place or being developed.  If there is a need for a practical Workshop on this topic, we would be happy to organise one; please contact us if you have any comments or suggestions for this.

The presentations at the Symposium are available to all those who attended on individual request using the Contact form.  Members and non-members may purchase them by following the appropriate link on the Downloads page..

April 2011 CAPA Workshop

A summary and copies of the presentations will be made available soon.

You may download a pdf of the November 2010 Evaluation Summary chart here.  The chart shows in histogram format, the mean of the scores given by delegates attending for each element of the Symposium and each presentation.  We hope you will agree that this was once again a very satisfactory result!

All presentations are on the Members download page for free download by paid-up AQMLM members, and on the Non-members download page at a charge of £25.

November 2009 Symposium outcome - "Quality in Laboratory Medicine"

You may download a pdf of the November 2009 Evaluation Summary chart here.  The chart shows in histogram format, the mean of the scores given by delegates attending for each element of the Symposium and each presentation.  We hope you will agree that this was a very satisfactory result for our first meeting!
