IBMS Congress 2011 Report

I just thought I would feedback to you our experience of IBMS 2011 at the ICC in Birmingham last week.

We had a small stand (R6) in the registration area close to one of the doors to the main Exhibition, right next to the BIVDA stand and opposite the Wisepress book display.  This proved a handy place to be and we attracted quite a lot of visitors.  It was also nice for me personally asd I seemed to know everyone for the companies coming to the BIVDA stand next door!

Having the daily Champagne Draw for those leaving their contact details attracted close to 80 people to the Stand, many of whom expressed interest in joing and attending the Symposium.  These contacts will be emailed shortly.

The winner on Monday was Jackie Longbone from Brighton (left, pictured with AQMLM Treasurer Alan Dench), on Tuesday was Pat Owen from Bath (centre) and on Wednesday was Helen Hemsworth from Oxford (right).

Our special promotional 6 inch ruler was a success - all attendees at the Symposium will get one in their delegate packs!  The chocolates also seemed popular, especially amongst the ladies!

We were able to visit several of the main companies to invite them to consider joining AQMLM.  We also had some offers of collaboration and one invitation to present at a Company User Group meeting

All in all, this was a valuable experience, but only time will tell whether it has increased the membership and the high cost of being there was economically worthwhile.
